Single of the Week: Thirstin Howl the 3rd "Surrounded by Criminals" (Video)

My pick for Single of the Week is "Surrounded by Criminals" by Thirstin Howl the 3rd. Thirstin is a New York based hip-hop artist of Puerto Rican decent from Brownsville, Brooklyn. He is also one of the original founders of the Lo Life Gang or Lo Lifers, notorious in the '80s and '90s for only wearing Polo. His sense of humor is notable in his ryhmes and carries through most of his material. He often ryhmes with a Spanish English mix of vocabulary which is a signature to his music. Make sure you check out his new LP "Natural Born Skiller" on iTunes.

It's actually just Lo Lifes, not Lo Lifers and it's not a gang. Also, they BOOSTED Polo in the 80's and 90's...not just wore it but set the trend that all of urban America would follow. Prior to that, Polo was for Ivy league prep kids. Lo Lifes put Polo onto the hood and paved the way for Phat Farm and other labels to make hood targeted wears. I know...I too am a Lo Life...officially certified by Original Lo Life and Founder Don Lo! Peace y'all! Thanks for the post and two L's up!
