Label

Label Spring/Summer 2011

As we enjoy the throngs of NYFW, men an women alike will be happy to acquaint themselves with a few designers across the boarder who are taking an environmental step towards style.

Thieves, by designer Sonja den Elzen is a Canadian line focused on the sustainability and functionality of clothing.  Using organic fabrics, each piece is sculpted to exude the body in sensuality and comfort.  The Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook inspires chicness and simplicity, with bare looks for both men and women; ethereal has never looked so good.

Luckily for all you Frank readers, NY Owner and Curator of Marketplace Gallery, Samson "the Butcher" Contompasis, previewed the John Patrick collection last week. The NYFW presentation featured organic designs of all the essential pieces for a sustainable fall wardrobe.  Samson has a fantastic review, and some great images, to help you familiarize yourself with another designer putting social responsibility first.

As NYFW continues, you may want to make note as to where design is leading us.  With something most consider to be frivolous, fashion is quietly taking on a new direction; understanding that its' impact on the environment is not to be taken lightly, a brave few are slowly incorporating changes worth applauding…and buying.
